Four teenagers have been arrested and a machete seized following a violent street altercation in Forest Fields, Nottingham.
Nottinghamshire Police were called to Berridge Road West around 4pm on Monday, 26 May 2025, after receiving reports of a group involved in a street fight. Upon arrival, the group dispersed, but officers acted swiftly to gather descriptions of the suspects and conducted searches across the local area.
Shortly afterwards, a second call alerted police to a discarded weapon on Brushfield Street, just a short distance away. Officers swiftly recovered a machete found hidden underneath a parked car. The weapon has since been secured and will be destroyed.
Two men, aged 18 and 19, along with two 17-year-old boys, were arrested on suspicion of affray and remain in police custody while investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould of Nottinghamshire Police said:
“Response teams always react quickly to any report of this nature.
The officers involved worked efficiently to gain descriptions and initial accounts from witnesses, trace these four suspects and recover a weapon.
Detectives will now be carrying out thorough investigations into what happened.
Violence like this can always expect to be met with a determined response from the force and I hope members of the community welcome these arrests.”
The incident comes as Nottinghamshire Police continues its efforts to tackle knife crime as part of Operation Sceptre, a nationwide campaign focused on reducing violence and keeping communities safe.
Last week, the force participated in the latest phase of Operation Sceptre, highlighting ongoing initiatives to target those who carry knives, raise awareness, and engage with young people to prevent violent crime.
