“The victim was simply doing his job when he was threatened and his taxi damaged.

He has been left feeling anxious as a result and we want to trace whoever was responsible.

We believe the individual pictured could have important information and wish to take his account of the incident.”

Members of the public who recognise the man or have any information that could assist officers are urged to get in touch.

A Reminder of the Risks Faced by Local Taxi Drivers

This incident highlights the challenges faced by taxi drivers working in Nottingham, particularly in busy areas like The Meadows, known for its mix of residential and commercial premises. With more than 1,000 licensed taxi drivers operating across Nottinghamshire, safety remains a critical concern.

According to recent data, incidents involving threats or assaults against drivers, while still relatively rare, have seen a slight increase over the past year, with Nottinghamshire Police reporting a 6% rise in driver-targeted incidents in the city centre and surrounding areas.

Authorities are urging communities to remain vigilant and to treat public service workers with respect, especially those working unsociable hours.
