Murder Investigation Underway After Man Dies at Roadside in Newark

A murder investigation has been launched after a man tragically died at the roadside in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Emergency services were called to Lombard Street shortly before 5pm on Monday 16 June 2025, following reports of an injured man in distress who had pulled over while driving, reportedly due to a medical emergency.

Despite efforts to save him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Following initial inquiries, detectives from Nottinghamshire Police launched a murder investigation and have since made three arrests.

Arrests Made

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and is currently being held in custody. Two others—a 37-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl—have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three remain in custody while the investigation continues.

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow of Nottinghamshire Police issued a statement:

“We’ve now arrested three suspects in connection with this man’s death, including one man on suspicion of murder.
The victim’s family have been notified and continue to be supported by specially trained officers at this incredibly distressing time.
While we’re announcing news of these arrests today, I’d stress that this murder investigation is still very much ongoing.”

Police are urging any witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Burrow added:

“Any piece of information, however small or insignificant it might seem, could be the difference between us solving a case like this.”
