Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman’s £5,000 designer handbag was stolen in a broad daylight robbery at Gedling Country Park.
The incident occurred at approximately 12.55pm on Wednesday, 8 May 2025, as the victim was walking alone through the popular Gedling beauty spot.
She was approached from behind by two unidentified men, who forcibly yanked the Louis Vuitton handbag from her shoulder before fleeing the scene. Thankfully, the woman was not physically injured, but police say she was left deeply shaken by the experience.
The stolen designer bag contained a mobile phone, designer sunglasses, and a purse, bringing the total value of the stolen items to around £5,000.
Public Urged to Come Forward with Information
Investigators from Nottinghamshire Police believe the robbery may have been witnessed by other park users.
PC Laura Wilkinson, leading the investigation, said:
“The victim has understandably been left very upset about what happened to her.
While she was thankfully not hurt during this incident, having her bag snatched in this manner will have no doubt shaken her up.
A number of valuables were in the stolen bag at the time, while the bag itself was worth a lot of money, so for obvious reasons we’d like to return these to the victim.
The country park is a popular route for walkers and joggers, so we do believe there will have been other people in the area at the time this happened.
If this was you and you saw what happened, or you have any other information that could assist our inquiries, please share it with us so that we can take action.”
Police have released a map of Gedling Country Park showing the precise location of the robbery, and are encouraging any eyewitnesses to come forward.
