Blackpool, Lancashire – Matthew Matthiason, 39, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for breaching his sex offender notification requirements and possessing a paedophile manual. The case, which unfolded following an arrest in April, underscores ongoing efforts by Lancashire Police to monitor and enforce restrictions on registered sex offenders.
Matthiason, previously convicted for offences related to indecent photographs of children, was found using unregistered names, violating his legal obligations. Upon searching his residence on Waterloo Road, Blackpool, authorities discovered a manual detailing methods of child sexual abuse, leading to further charges.
At Preston Crown Court on Monday, Matthiason pleaded guilty to failing notification requirements and possession of the manual. The sentencing serves as a reminder of the stringent actions taken against individuals breaching these regulations.
Inspector Diane Thompson of Lancashire Police emphasized, “We remain vigilant in monitoring sex offenders within our communities. Any breach of notification requirements will result in swift and decisive action.”
